Jose Mourinho confirms double Manchester United boost for Brighton trip

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has delivered some positive news on the fitness front with both Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku in line to start the Premier League game at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Lukaku was only a second half substitute during the 2-1 win over Leicester City last week but Lingard was nowhere to be seen as he was supposedly lacking fitness after returning from an extended break following the World Cup.

In a report covered on the club’s official website, Mourinho confirmed that none of the injured players may make the trip to the south Coast, though Lukaku, Lingard among others could play extensive roles against Chris Hughton’s men.

He said: “Normally, these boys that [against Leicester] were in a difficult situation will be ready to give a bit more [against Brighton] – more [Romelu] Lukaku, more Rashford, probably Lingard coming back, more Fellaini. I think normally we’re going to have more.”

United have been hampered by injuries prior to the start of the campaign and the likes of Diogo Dalot, Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo, Nemanja Matic, Sergio Romero and Ander Herrera are expected to play no part during the weekend meeting at Brighton.

Nonetheless, Mourinho has a top quality outfit to lineup with Paul Pogba expected to lead once more, and United should be able to avenge the surprise 1-0 defeat to the Seagulls earlier in the year. United picked up a 2-1 triumph over Leicester City during the opening game of the campaign.

  1. We should up our game against Brighton and Hove Abion, as we need to be a force to reckon with this season.

  2. Again, Mourinho does not mention his most talented player: Martial. If he keeps putting him on the bench, we are going to lose our most talented player
