Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed six absentees for Tuesday night’s Champions League meeting versus Juventus at Old Trafford.
United have made a minor recovery with impressive second half performances versus Chelsea and Newcastle United but they still to produce a strong showing to outclass the Bianconeri.
Ahead of the game, Mourinho confirmed that as many as six players could miss the Juventus clash and one of those candidates was Alexis Sanchez, who seems to have picked up a knock from the previous game.
“The players you saw are the players that are available. [We have] Nothing to hide and Alexis is out,” he said.
Aside from Sanchez, United are expected to be without the services of Phil Jones, Scott McTominay, Jesse Lingard, Marouane Fellaini and Diogo Dalot – all of whom missed the open training session on Monday.
Nonetheless, there is some fitness boost in the form of club-captain Antonio Valencia, who missed the previous game versus Chelsea owing to a complication coming from mouth surgery earlier in the year.
The Ecuadorian could get the nod over Ashley Young on the right side of the defence where he could come face-to-face with Cristiano Ronaldo, who makes his Old Trafford return for the first time since 2013.
