Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he could make a late decision on whether Romelu Lukaku will be involved in the FA Cup final on Saturday afternoon.
The Belgian picked up an ankle problem during the 2-1 triumph over Arsenal last month and he followed to spend some time in his homeland receiving treatment from a specialist.
Lukaku rejoined first-team training on Tuesday ahead of the Cup final against Chelsea but speaking in his press conference, Mourinho has refused to confirm whether the Belgian will make the game.
However, in a positive sense, Martial has managed to recover from the knee injury which troubled him last weekend and he should make the matchday squad for the Wembley showpiece.
“Martial is fit and Lukaku we have to wait until the last moment,” he said. “I don’t want to lie to you and say he doesn’t play and then plays, or vice versa, so Lukaku we have to wait.”
Mourinho has remained tentative when posed the question over Lukaku’s fitness and he suggested last week that the Belgian may only make a final appearance from the substitutes’ bench.
Regardless of this, the Portuguese is certainly keeping the fans and the opposition guessing about tactics in the lead up and hopefully, the Belgian manages to pass a late fitness test to face his former side.
