Jose Interested in £50Million Valued Player — Boss Keen on Securing Fourth Signing

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in a late move for Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, although the club’s hierarchy are not convinced over the player’s abilities.

The Algeria international announced his desire to leave the Foxes earlier in May, but he has since been stranded at the King Power Stadium with no clubs willing to match his £50m valuation.

According to SFR Sport h/t Metro, the Special One is keen on securing his fourth signing of the transfer window with Mahrez identified as the prime option prior to Thursday’s deadline.

However, the board are not convinced about how the attacker would improve the squad, and they are said to have exceptions over a move for the former Premier League winner.

Mourinho is understood to have been handed a £150m kitty to spend on recruits this summer, and he has utilised more than £140m to pursue the likes of Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic.

As a result, any further inward movement would be entirely dependent on the board, who will make the final decision over the targets. Manchester United have not earned much through their fringe players this summer with just £9.8m gained from the sale of Adnan Januzaj.
