Jose Mourinho gives the green light for £10.50million defender deal: report

Darmian MUFC

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly given the green light for Matteo Darmian to join Juventus during this summer’s transfer window.

The Italy international was sparingly used by Mourinho over the course of the previous campaign and it now appears that he is nearing a potential return to Turin.

According to IlBianconero, Darmian is understood to have agreed to a move with sporting director Fabio Paratici and a fee of around €12m(£10.50) could push through the deal in the near future.

Darmian had played second fiddle to Antonio Valencia at right-back for most of the 2017/18 season and the Italian and he managed just seven starts in the Premier League and Champions League together.

His proposed exit leaves a potential gap for someone like Timothy Fosu-Mensah to fill but it will be interesting to see whether Mourinho has plans of pursuing a possible replacement this summer.

Aside from the right-back spot, the midfield department remains a concern with Marouane Fellaini yet to extend his contract beyond the end of June.

Should the Belgian leave Old Trafford, there is a high probability that Mourinho would seek to recruit two midfielders into the squad, considering Michael Carrick has already retired from the game.
