Jose Mourinho gives green light for transfer of 21-year-old midfielder

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly given his seal of approval for Andreas Pereira to pursue a season-long loan with Valencia. The Belgium-born midfielder impressed during his temporary spell with Granada last term, scoring five goals in 37 appearances.

Earlier this summer, Pereira admitted that he is prepared to push for a place under Mourinho following an extended spell in La Liga where he featured in different positions including central midfield and the number ’10’ role.

The Brazil Under-21 international initially looked to be Mourinho’s plans during United’s pre-season, but has since failed to make the matchday squads for the 4-0 victories over Swansea City and West Ham United in the Premier League.

Superdeporte reported earlier this week that Los Che owner Peter Lim had travelled to England to finalise a move for the versatile midfielder. And the Valencia-based publication now claim that Lim has convinced Mourinho into a loan agreement as the 21-year-old will have more game time in La Liga than at Old Trafford.

Pereira is contracted to Manchester United until 2018 with the option of an additional year, and a move to Valencia could help further his development. The youngster has managed just 13 competitive appearances for the Red Devils since his first-team debut in 2014.
