Jose Mourinho key to Man United retrieving midfielder after 2-years in La Liga

According to ESPN, Manchester United are set to hold talks with midfielder Andreas Pereira, who is currently out on loan with La Liga side Valencia.

The 22-year-old wants assurances of playing time next season and could seek another temporary move away if Jose Mourinho can’t promise him such.

The United manager wanted to keep Pereira at Old Trafford last summer before he sought a move away for the 2017/18 season and Mourinho’s role could be vital once again in the Red Devils’ pursuit.

Signed from PSV Eindhoven in 2012, the Brazilian u23 international has gone on to make 13 appearances for the Manchester giants in all competitions, scoring just one goal.

The lack of playing time led to Pereira seeking greener pastures and he’s been vindicated given how much first-team football has come his way in Spain ever since.

He spent last season on loan with Granada, making 37 appearances, scoring and creating eight goals, and racked up 24 appearances with Valencia this campaign.  Nevertheless, the 22-year-old could call time on his two years in Spain,

If Mourinho really does pal to keep Pereira in the first-team next season, he’ll likely reject a loan move away.

The Red Devils do have a lot of competition for places, however, with Alexis Sanchez, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata capable of playing in his preferred role.
