Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly ended the club’s quest for a new left-back with Luke Shaw likely to remain at Old Trafford for next season at the least.
Initially, the Englishman was tipped to leave the Red Devils after being poorly treated by Mourinho during the 2017/18 season but the Portuguese has now made the decision to stick with the left-back for next term.
As such, United are unlucky to pursue another signing in the position with Ashley Young, Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo expected to share the duties for the 2018/19 campaign.
Irrespective of this, United are still said to be in the transfer market with Mourinho eyeing a new striker, who can play second fiddle to Romelu Lukaku upfront next season.
The likes of Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez are regarded as probable candidates to start in Lukaku’s absence, but the manager is eyeing another like-for-like player with similar physical attributes.
According to The Independent, West Ham United’s Marko Arnautovic and Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic are the players on focus, though the club could be prized out of a move for the former.
Manchester United have so far completed the signings of Fred and Diogo Dalot from Shakhtar Donetsk and Porto respectively. The latter has yet to be presented in the United shirt with an international clearance pending.
