Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has set his sights on signing Chelsea winger Willian, should he be made available during the January transfer window. The Brazil international has managed just six Premier League starts under manager Antonio Conte this campaign.
According to The Express, £110,000-a-week player could be forced to pursue a fresh challenge this winter with the Blues looking for a potential replacement. Conte currently has his eye over a move for compatriot Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain, and this could deem Willian as surplus to requirements.
Preferably, the Premier League holders are planning to offload Willian to an unnamed Chinese Super League club, but Mourinho is nevertheless keen on a reunion with the Brazilian, who he feels is more consistent than Anthony Martial.
Back in the summer, Mourinho was left frustrated with the failed pursuit of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, and it appears that the Portuguese tactician is still looking out for an experienced winger, who could potentially encourage United’s title hunt.
Willian has previously revealed an approach from Manchester United during last summer’s transfer window, and a renewed approach looks a possibility, although the Blues could block the proposed move following the success of ex-player Matic at Old Trafford this term.
