Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could sanction the departure of Henrikh Mkhitaryan during the January transfer window, a report from BBC Sport claims. The Portuguese tactician is said to have had a ‘breakdown in trust’ with the Armenian owing to his average showing over the past few months.
Mkhitaryan has made just a solitary substitute appearance for United since the last international break, and Mourinho opened the possibility of the attacker’s exit after he suggested that ‘every player has a price’.
The likes of Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin ending their association at Old Trafford during the 2017 winter transfer window, and there could be a similar trend this campaign with Mkhitaryan seemingly out-of-favour.
Luke Shaw is deemed to be in a similar position at United, although he has regained the confidence of the manager of late after making his maiden Premier League start of the season against Bournemouth in midweek.
Belgium midfielder Marouane Fellaini is another who has been associated with a winter exit, but he could remain for the final six months of his United contract with a view to pursuing a Bosman move elsewhere on a significant signing-on fee.
