Jose Mourinho provides key injury update on two players including Eric Bailly

Jose Mourinho has provided an injury update prior to Manchester United key Champions League tie against Benfica on Wednesday night. United have been hampered by injuries since the international break with the likes of Marouane Fellaini and Eric Bailly having missed the 0-0 draw versus Liverpool.

Speaking prior to the Benfica clash, Mourinho admitted that the team pretty much picks itself with both Phil Jones and Eric Bailly set to miss the midweek game. Both Jones and Bailly were left out of the travelling squad, and the gaffer has revealed that the latter has yet to recover from an injury sustained with the Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile, Marcos Rojo travelled with his teammates to Lisbon on Monday, but he is unlikely to make his first-team comeback until the end of the month. Mourinho told MUTV: “Rojo is not coming to play but he is coming with the team to train today with the group. Tomorrow, individually, but he’s coming [back]. I would say, probably in two weeks, Marcos is ready to play. There is no Bailly – he was injured in the national team.”

Manchester United are currently at the top of Group A with six points, and a victory at the Estadio da Luz would edge them closer to the round of 16 – for the first time since the 2013/14 season.
