According to reports from the Sun, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will allow Luke Shaw to depart from Old Trafford during the January transfer window.
Luke Shaw was widely expected to be the long term successor to the legendary Patrice Evra for Manchester United in the left-back position when he arrived to Old Trafford from Southampton in the summer of 2014 for a whopping £31million.
However, injuries as well as lack of consistency have meant that Shaw has been limited to only 32 league appearances for United over the past three seasons and having failed to impress manager Jose Mourinho, the defender has not been afforded even a single start in the Premier League this term.
As a result, it is clear to see that Shaw is well down the pecking order at United and now according to reports from the Sun, claims are being made that Mourinho is now looking to offload the youngster during the January transfer window on a loan basis as he is currently surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
An Old Trafford source told the Sun regarding the potential transfer, “It looks like Luke will be allowed to leave in January on loan if the right offer comes in.
“He has been on the bench a few times recently but his injury problems are a concern. Marcus Rojo is back soon and Jose is considering his options.
“A couple of Premier League clubs asked about him in the summer, but he was still injured. He has been working hard in training. It has been difficult for him as he is trying his hardest but has had no luck over the past couple of years, at all.”
