‘He understands the game’, Jose Mourinho reserves special praise for this particular Man United star

Lingard Man Utd

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has hailed attacker Jesse Lingard for his fine performances in recent times.

Lingard has certainly shown great attitude to make it back into the reckoning at Manchester United after being dropped for the early season fixtures.

Having shown impressive mental fortitude this season to bounce back from a disappointing start to the season, Lingard has been in stunning form in recent times and this can be testified by the fact that he has scored an impressive seven goals in just 923 minutes of action.

Lingard was not a prominent feature of the Manchester United first team during the earlier part of the season as the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford were all preferred ahead of the England international.

As the season has progressed though, Lingard has emerged as a regular performer for Manchester United by getting goals in key moments and these impressive performances means that the 25-year-old has quickly become a fan favorite at Old Trafford.

Now manager Jose Mourinho has also gone on to take time to appreciate the talented midfielder’s displays by saying, “These boys, they jump or they don’t jump. One thing is to be a young talent, another is to be a very good player. Some players are not capable of that jump.

“From great potential, young players, they go to normal players. I think Jesse is giving that jump. He is being more consistent. He is being more adaptable. He understands better the game, the different spaces, the different positions. He is going in a good direction.”

Every Manchester United fan will hope that Lingard will remain injury free for rest of the season and continue on this current goalscoring form in order for the Red Devils to finish in the top four during the current campaign.
