Jose Mourinho Could Turn to Arsenal Star to Secure Fourth Summer Signing

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho could switch his attention to Arsenal contract rebel Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as he looks to complete his transfer business for the summer.

The England international has entered the final 12 months of his Gunners contract, and this has led to widespread speculation over his future, although Arsene Wenger is hoping to keep the attacker.

According to The Sun h/t M.E.N, the Special One is finding it hard to pursue his fourth signing of the transfer window, and he could turn towards Oxlade-Chamberlain, who wants assurances of regular first-team football.

The Englishman has primarily featured in the wing-back position for Arsenal since the three-at-the-back formation change, and he is desperate to play higher up the field – preferably in the central midfield role as he looks to progress further in his career.

Manchester United look comfortable with the presence of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba in midfield, and there does not appear a need for a new recruit with Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick all present to provide backup.

Mourinho has repeatedly stressed his desire to sign a new winger in the transfer window, and Oxlade-Chamberlain could be a valuable late addition, provided he is available at a reasonable price.
