Jose Mourinho urges Real Madrid defender to join Man United: Reports

Varane Real Madrid

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly urged Raphael Varane to make a future move to Old Trafford. The France international is currently in the ranks of Real Madrid, whom he joined from Lens back in the summer of 2011.

Varane became the youngest-ever player to win three Champions League titles after Madrid outclassed Juventus at the Cardiff City earlier in June. However, the new campaign has not bore much fruit with Los Blancos already eight points behind Barcelona.

According to Don Balon, the central defender has been advised by Mourinho to seal a Premier League move where he could have a better playing career with United.

The Europa League holders have held a keen interest in Varane since Louis van Gaal’s time in charge, and Mourinho appears keen on adding the Frenchman to the club’s backline.

United presently have the likes of Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof, who are specialists in the central defensive department, and a move for Varane would surely come as a surprise.

Varane has managed 11 appearances for Zinedine Zidane’s side this campaign, but he has looked far from his best form having featured in shock league defeats to Real Betis and Girona.
