Manchester United supporters were elated with the performance of Alexis Sanchez during Saturday’s cross-town derby against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
United produced a rather forgettable showing in the first-half where they found themselves 2-0 down – with the prospect of witnessing City celebrate their Premier League title.
However, Jose Mourinho’s men put in a strong display following the break with three goals, and Sanchez played an instrumental role in each of those to script the comeback.
Best performance in a Manchester United shirt for Alexis Sánchez. Big game, big player.

Sanchez masterclass in the second half. No doubt about it. Been an absolute demon. Essential to all 3 of our goals.

Alexis Sanchez had his best performance in a Manchester United shirt yesterday, phenomenal performance. He never stopped trying, such a determined player on and off the pitch. He’ll smash it next season.

A performance that has gone hugely overlooked is Alexis Sánchez’s. Slowly but surely settling into the team well with 1 goal and 3 assists in his last 2 games. Deserves a lot more credit, only the beginning of his Manchester United career.

There were no shortage of heroes wearing Red yesterday. Paul Pogba being the obvious one. David de Gea's save from that header was incredible but the real star for me was Alexis Sanchez. He's getting the hang of things now.

The Chilean’s ball for Ander Herrera was perfectly cushioned into the path of Pogba for the opener, and just a minute later, Sanchez made another excellent run before lobbing the ball for the Frenchman to score his brace.
United’s comeback resulted from a powerful header from Chris Smalling, but prior to that, Sanchez put in the perfect delivery from a free-kick for the Englishman to pounce.
Sanchez looked all at sea during the first period versus City, but the second period exemplified the performances we have been used to witnessing with his former employers.
United’s second spot appears more or less secure after the City triumph, and the fans will hope that Sanchez can continue his recent purple patch to guide the club to FA Cup glory.
