Arsenal legend Ian Wright says Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld is good enough to play for Real Madrid or Manchester United.
Due to the injury proneness of the likes of Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo, Manchester United have consistently been linked with a move for a new defender over the past few weeks or so and a host of names are currently being touted as potential targets for the Red Devils.
Jonny Evans, Virgil van Dijk and Daniele Rugani are just some of the players who have been linked to United in recent times and now Arsenal legend Ian Wright has gone on to suggest another name to potentially improve the Premier League giants’ backline in the form of Toby Alderweireld.
Alderweireld has consistently been one of the best defenders in the Premier League since making a move to England with Southampton back in 2014 and he has been a crucial figure in Tottenham’s meteoric rise over the past two seasons.
Wright is clearly a keen admirer of Alderweireld’s abilities and the ex-Arsenal star has stated that the Belgian international is more than capable of playing for Manchester United or even the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Wright said, “Alderweireld could go anywhere. He could play for any club. He could play for Real Madrid. He could play for Barcelona. He could play for Manchester United.”
