Chelsea legend Ray Wilkins has stated that the Blues can offload David Luiz to Manchester United.
David Luiz made a surprise return to Chelsea from PSG last season and despite much reservation from many, the Brazilian international went on to play a key role in helping the Blues claim the Premier League title in fine fashion.
During the current campaign though, Luiz has not looked as solid as he did last season and having reportedly fallen out with manager Antonio Conte, the 30-year-old has not made a single appearance in the Premier League since late October.
It is now clear to see that Luiz may have been deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, especially considering the emergence of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger this season and a transfer away from Chelsea in January has been seen as a likely possibility for the defender.
Manchester United have surprisingly been mentioned as a potential destination for Luiz and now club legend Ray Wilkins has gone on to state that he would look to sell the centre-back immediately if Conte is not looking to utilize him as a defensive midfielder.
Wilkins said, “As far as I’m concerned, David Luiz can go to United tomorrow as a centre-half. If he goes as a holding midfielder, I wouldn’t let him leave. David Luiz, as a center-half, does not fit the requirements of a top-level football club – he makes far too many errors.”
