Manchester United will look to continue their winning run when they face off against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Sunday. Jose Mourinho’s side secured a close 1-0 win over Bournemouth in the last outing, but the game should have involved more goals, had United’s forwards capitalized on their chances.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Lineup:
Spanish shot-stopper David de Gea had to be alert in goal on Wednesday night where the Cherries found their way past the United defence on a number of occasions. The 27-year-old is certain to start between the sticks this weekend.
Phil Jones and Chris Smalling featured at the heart of the defence versus Eddie Howe’s side, but we could potentially see changes, should Jose Mourinho look to rotate his squad around. Jones is likely to be afresh after his injury comeback, and Smalling could make way for Victor Lindelof’s involvement.
Standing skipper Antonio Valencia should keep his position at right-back with Ashley Young returning to the left-back spot, where Luke Shaw started in the midweek Premier League game.
Marouane Fellaini has been on the sidelines of late with a recurrence of his knee problem. Nevertheless, the Belgian stands a reasonable chance of making the squad versus the Baggies, and he could potentially lineup alongside Nemanja Matic in a two-man central midfield.
Marcus Rashford saw his excellent effort on goal denied by the woodwork in midweek, and he is a candidate to start ahead of Anthony Martial on the left wing. Other than this, the likes of Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata could take up their positions in the support striker and right wing roles respectively with Romelu Lukaku leading the line for the 18th straight league game.
