Liverpool favorites to beat United as £25.8million star is willing to agree Anfield move

Marco Asensio

Liverpool were able to beat Manchester United in the race to sign Uruguayan striker, Darwin Nunez, from Benfica this summer.

If reports in the Spanish media are anything to go by then the Reds are favorites to beat United again, this time to hire the services of Marco Asensio.

Transfer: Man Utd ready to agree £40million signing, deal close – Report

Two days ago, Sport reported that instead of chasing the La Roja attacker, AC Milan are pushing to sign Domenico Berardi from Sassuolo. Therefore, the attacker will look at other proposals with clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Juventus interested.

Today, the Catalan news source have covered another story (via Paisley Gates) and revealed that Asensio is willing to agree a move to Anfield.

It is stated that the player, who will be free to leave the Bernabeu in less than 12 months, demanded a new deal worth 6-7 million euros per season from Madrid. However, he is even prepared to lower the wage demands to sign for Liverpool.

The 14-time European Cup winners were initially demanding 50 million euros but have now decided to sell the 26-year-old for a low fee of 30 million euros (£25.8million).

Apart from Copa Del Rey, Asensio has won every major title with Real Madrid multiple times but he has mostly been a bench warmer.

The situation did not change for the player even after the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti, so it is not strange that he wants a change and definitely not shocking that he wants Liverpool over United.

The Anfield club can offer him Champions League football, on the other hand, we will be taking part in the Europa League next term.

Have your say – Who should Man United sign to reinforce the attacking midfield this summer?

  1. Don’t want him, let him go to United, he isn’t imo enough of a team player, he’s lazy going backwards, he don’t turn up to training on time so would never get a spot on the starting 11, he would be lucky to be our back up RW behind Salah. Imo Ascensio is really not worth the hassle he will cause in the dressing room.
