Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United are interested in hiring the services of Frankfurt center forward, Hugo Ekitike.
The Magpies already have a top striker in the form of Alexander Isak, but to further reinforce the department, they made an offer worth £70million for the French forward.
However, the move was turned down and now the Merseysiders have opened talks to lure him (Sky Sports).
News – Man United ready to offer £65million for signing – There’s a massive twist
As per Sky Sport journalist, Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool are prepared to bid more than Newcastle, (i.e. over £70million) to sign Ekitike, who is also wanted by Man Utd.
Last night, we covered a story via CO claiming that the Old Trafford outfit are seriously making an attempt to sign the French finisher.
The reigning Premier League champions have already broken the bank this summer to seal major signings of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. Not to forget, Mamardashvili has also arrived from Valencia.
The Red Devils only netted 44 goals in the entire PL campaign last term, on the other hand, the Reds were the top scorers and found the net 86 times under Arne Slot, even without a proven quality No.9.
Should Liverpool add a talented striker in the form of Ekitike, then they would become firm favorites to retain the title and move ahead of Man Utd.
Last season, the 23-year-old forward started 31 games in the German Bundesliga for Frankfurt, scored 15 goals and provided 8 assists.
In all competitions, he made 48 appearances, and directly contributed in no fewer than 34 goals (22 goals and 12 assists).
At the moment, Liverpool offer a much better sporting project and have been way more ambitious this summer than Man Utd, who will not be taking part in any European tournament next term.
So, in all fairness, it is highly unlikely Amorim would be able to beat teams that are offering Champions League football to sign Ekitike. What do you think?
