Liverpool will battle Man United in the race to sign German international




Manchester United will be facing competition from Liverpool in the race to sign Leon Goretzka, according to reports carried out by the Daily Mirror.

Leon Goretzka was widely regarded as one of the finest young talents to have emerged from Germany due to his impressive performances for Schalke over the years and the 22-year-old has managed to grab the attention of the entire world following his stunning performances for the German national team during the 2017 Confederations Cup in the summer.

As a result of his exploits in Russia, a host of top clubs are now vying to secure the services of Goretzka and what makes the midfielder an even more attractive proposition is the fact that his current contract at Schalke expires in January.

It is now believed that there will be a mad scramble from a number of teams in the race to secure the services of Goretzka during the January transfer window and Premier League giants Manchester United have widely been mooted as a potential destination for the youngster as a replacement for Michael Carrick.

In an update, the Daily Mirror have revealed that even Liverpool have now joined United in the race to sign Goretzka and the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be looking to use his contacts in Germany to recruit the combative midfielder.

Goretzka is certainly a very talented player who could fill the role Carrick so wonderfully conducted at Old Trafford over the years and United should look to beat Liverpool in the race for the German international at all costs.
