Manchester United supporters were critical about the performance of Paul Pogba following Wednesday night’s League Cup exit at the hands of Bristol City. The Frenchman returned to the starting lineup after serving a three-match ban, but his showing was far from impressive as he struggled to command the midfield alongside Scott McTominay.
The Red Devils conceded the opening goal of the game before Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s sublime free-kick got things level at 1-1. However, Bristol City killed the game at the very end with a 93rd-minute winner. Pogba had been in sparkling form prior to his sending off at Arsenal, and the faithful were clearly disappointed with his inability to help his side progress to the final four of the Cup competition.
Pogba came back to put out a mediocre performance… sickening stuff.

Paul Pogba, dropped a 2/10, net contribution to the game was diving for a free kick. Booked for dissent and pocketed by a championship midfield. Wonderful.

United are currently without the likes of Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick with a knee injury and fitness issues respectively, and the midfield department remains a concern, should Paul Pogba fail to turn up every game.
Nemanja Matic has been efficient with intercepting play in a deeper midfield role, and there is not much quality back-up behind them with Ander Herrera looking the shadow of a player, who dominated last term while Scott McTominay is just learning his trade at the senior level.
With the contracts of Fellaini and Carrick running down in the summer, the club’s hierarchy ought to find a quality recruit, who could potentially provide more going forward with his link-up play with the front men.
