Louis Saha has urged Manchester United to pursue the services of Raphael Varane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the future. The former Red Devil reckons that United still need a central defender and striker to complete their squad.
Speaking on BetStars, he said: “I would go for Raphael Varane. Varane is a great defender and I think he would bring something special to the defence. And Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, he’s very quick and he’s got the eye for the ball all the time. He’s really impressed me in the last few years. And he’s still a player you feel is still stepping up. He really wants to improve. I think he would be a good addition.”
Varane, currently at Real Madrid, has been linked with United in the past. Jose Mourinho was responsible for recruiting him from Lens during his time at the Bernabeu but the frosty relationship between the clubs could restrict any future transfer for the Frenchman.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be a realistic target for United, although he would not come on the cheap. Romelu Lukaku has already made a huge impression following his £75m move from Everton this summer, and Jose Mourinho will probably stick with his forward options for the campaign.
Veteran star Zlatan Ibrahimovic is due to make his appearance at the turn of the year, and this provides United with sufficient depth with both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial also capable of featuring up front.
