Manchester City have had a bid for United target Raheem Sterling rejected by the Merseyside club according to the latest reports. The England winger has been on Louis Van Gaal’s wishlist since he refused to sign a new deal with Brendan Rodgers side.
The Manchester Evening News notes: Manchester City have had a £30m bid for Raheem Sterling turned down by Liverpool.
The Merseyside club confirmed on Thursday evening that they had rejected the Blues offer of an initial £25million plus the possibility of £5million in add-ons.
City’s opening gambit does not come close to meeting Liverpool’s valuation of more than £50m for the England international.
Reports had suggested United were chasing the former QPR man but Liverpool were unwilling to sell to their arch rivals, a deal with Manchester City, who don’t share the same level of rivalry with the Anfield club is much more likely, if the price is right.
