Man United already in talks to sign £168,000-a-week playmaker – Face competition

James Rodriguez Colombia

If reports in the media are anything to go by then Manchester United are linked with Colombian international James Rodriguez.

According to AS, the Real Madrid star’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is already in talks with Man United and Juventus as he looks to find a suitable club for his client.

Transfer: Club ready to sell £200,000-a-week star to Manchester United – Report

The renowned Spanish outlet have cited Transfermarkt and claimed that the South American playmaker is valued at 40 million euros. However, in my view, the 28-year-old whose contract with the Los Blancos will expire next year and who has been highly injury prone lately, should go for cheap.

Few days back, Italian source Calcio Mercato reported that the La Liga club will be satisfied with a fee of less than 30 million euros.

Rodriguez was a superstar with Porto and had an impressive 13/14 campaign with Monaco. After that season, the versatile attacker scored 6 goals to win the Golden Boot prize at the 2014 World Cup and Real Madrid pounced to get his signing done.

Unfortunately, at the Bernabeu, the £168,000-a-week playmaker (Marca) normally warmed the bench and spent his last two years on loan with Bayern Munich.

As far as this season is concerned, the former Primeira Liga star has only played 13 games in all competitions and has spent most of his time either on the treatment table or out of the starting XI. So, he needs to leave the 13-time European Champions for regular first team football.

The 76-capped international is naturally a central attacking midfielder but he can effectively play on either flank if needed. Man United do need to improve the offense for next season. In your view, should they opt to sign James Rodriguez?
