Man United backed to agree signing of £350,000-a-week Sancho alternative

Gareth Bale Real Madrid

Manchester United tried to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham back in 2013 but the Welsh international opted to move to Real Madrid.

Since then, the Red Devils have pushed to lure the star winger on several occasions and as per The Sunday Express, even Mourinho attempted to hire his services in 2017. However, the Los Blaoncos opted to keep him.

Transfer: Man Utd could move to finally sign £292,000-a-week star who likes Red Devils – Face competition

The renowned British source have mentioned that the Red Devils have so far failed in their pursuit of Sancho and have looked at alternatives. In such a scenario, they could be tempted to once again move for Bale.

Journalist, Jack Otway, has backed the Old Trafford outfit to finally sign the 83-capped international, who, on his day, can be one of the best players in the world.

The former Spurs attacker was a superstar in the Premier League. He won the PFA Player of the Year prize on two occasions.

At the Bernabeu, he has won ever major prize with the club. Bale has the ability to win matches single-handedly. In his debut season with Real Madrid, he scored decisive goals in the Copa Del Rey and the Champions League Finals.

In the 2018 CL final against Liverpool, he scored a brace and was deservedly named the Man of the Match.

Unfortunately, injuries have often kept him out of the team (Transfermarkt), moreover, in the last campaign, Zidane had other options and he mostly kept the 31-year-old on the bench.

In all competitions, Bale only started 14 games, so it is not surprising that he wants to leave the Spanish champions for regular first team football (Mirror Sport).

His current contract with the 13-time European Champions will expire in 2022 and since he has mostly warmed the bench last season, his price tag should not be touching the sky. However, his wages are massive. Back in 2016, he signed a six year deal worth £350,000-a-week after tax (The Guardian).

In your view, should Man United move to sign Gareth Bale if they fail to lure Jadon Sancho this summer?

  1. did you not learn anything signing sanches???? im welsh admired gareth since his early days but when the boat sails let it go…he had plenty of chances to join united but chose otherwise as i said when boat sails let it go (sadly )

  2. I think we should go for him one more time cos I believe he still have some fire in his boots .and his experience would help the likes of Greenwood.
