The Red Devils need a top-quality manager for next season and Old Trafford legend, Gary Neville, has backed the club to secure the signing of Diego Simeone from Atletico Madrid. The Sky Sports pundit claimed (via The Metro):

“Diego Simeone should be a candidate, but it’s never been achievable to get him out of Atletico Madrid.”

“Fantastic coach, brutal in how he approaches the game, I think in every single way. He’s tough, and Manchester United need a tough manager.”

Simeone is the best coach in the history of the Rojiblancos. The Argentine boss has won a Copa del Rey, a Spanish Super Cup, two La Liga titles, two Europa League trophies and two UEFA Super Cups as well.

Unfortunately, he lost a couple of Champions League finals against rivals and neighbors Real Madrid and lately, his tactical masterclass helped Atletico knock Manchester United out of the competition.

The Colchoneros will collide against Manchester City in the quarter finals of the Europe’s elite tournament next month.

The 51-year-old manager’s current deal at the Wanda Metropolitano is due to expire in 2024 and he is one of the highest earning coaches in the world. As per The Mail, the South American gets around £12.75million a year i.e. around £245,000-a-week.

In your view, should Man United push to secure the signing of Diego Simeone?
