Manchester United have spent a lot of cash to reinforce their defense in the past few transfer windows but things have not really improved at the back.
The Red Devils have already let in 17 goals in 11 PL outings this term and reports suggest that they are looking to sign a quality central defender.

According to Sport Bild (via Sport Witness), Man United could move to sign David Alaba from Bayern Munich next month.
The Austrian international will be out of contract in the summer. The renowned German outlet have mentioned that the Bavarians tried hard to agree a new contract with him but they have given up. They would like to cash in instead of losing him for free.
Last month, Football Insider revealed that Alaba could be lured for a low fee of £30million in the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old star is a versatile talent, who mainly played in the left back role early on in his career with the Bundesliga giants but in the last few campaigns, the 73-capped international has mostly starred in the central defense.
He has won every major title with Bayern multiple times and was a key member of the squad that won the treble in the last campaign.
Alaba has got a peach of a left foot, he can cross and strike the ball well and is a dead ball specialist as well. This season, so far, he has netted 1 goal and provided 1 assist n 17 appearances under the management of Hansi Flick.
At Old Trafford, Man United do not have any consistent performing center half. Maguire was supposed to be the leader of the defense but he has been highly inconsistent since moving to Old Trafford last year.
