Manchester United are said to hold a keen interest in 16-year-old Pietro Pellegri after he stood out in Genoa’s 3-2 Serie A defeat to Lazio on Sunday. The teenage striker bagged his first two goals for the Italian club over the weekend, and this brought tears to the eyes of his father Marco Allegri, who watched him from the bench as Genoa’s assistant coach.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport h/t Metro, Genoa have received a series of phone calls on the back of the youngster’s performance with United, AC Milan and Juventus among the top contenders for his signature.
It is added that the player’s representative has made his way to England this week, sparking speculation that the Red Devils could be discussing a potential move for the Italy youth international. League rivals Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the young forward, and they could be a potential tussle for his services in the future.
Red Devils scouts were in attendance for the Genoa-Lazio game last weekend where they watched the performance of midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic but Pellegri is sure to have caught their eye after he nearly helped his side to a draw.
