Man United favorites to secure signing of £140,000-a-week striker – Report

Luka Jovic Serbian Striker

If reports in the media are anything to go by then Manchester United are favorites to secure the signing of Luka Jovic on loan from Real Madrid.

According to AS, the Red Devils are best placed to lure the Serbian international, who is wanted by other clubs as well but his favored destination is Old Trafford.

The renowned Spanish outlet have claimed that the Los Blancos would approve a loan on two conditions, one, the striker will get regular game time and two, his wages of 8 million euros (£140,000-a-week) will be taken care of as well.

In the 2018-19 campaign, Jovic scored 27 goals and provided 7 assists in all competitions for Frankfurt, however, last season, he was mainly a bench warmer at the Bernabeu.

In 27 appearances in all competitions, the 22-year-old forward only scored 2 goals for the 13-time European Champions.

French manager Zinedine Zidane mainly preferred compatriot Karim Benzema in the No.9 role and in such scenario, the 7-capped Serbian only started 4 games in the La Liga. So, it is better for him to leave for regular first team football.

At Old Trafford, Anthony Martial is the main center forward, who has not scored a single goal in 180 minutes of football this term.

The former Monaco star is neither a natural forward nor a clinical finisher and therefore, Solskjaer, who has not replaced Lukaku as yet, needs an out and out striker to improve things up front.

In your view, is Luka Jovic good enough to reinforce the strike-force at Old Trafford?

  1. We the fans of Man.Utd everyday look up for any good news but when we open up to read the news of Man.Utd, it is always the case of depressing news in the transfer market. Only Man.Utd are struggling with transfers. All we hear is that Man.Utd are close to signing this player and that player and then it is a reverse saga as that player is not being sold and that only when summer transfer window opens etc. These stories are so boring and depressing. A club like this compared to much smaller clubs have done so many deals. Just ridiculous. It looks like Man.Utd has to be a club who will always be a club of a bearer of bad news.

  2. Jadon Sancho saga. It is like a forwarding and reminding matter. I cannot believe how a club like Man.Utd to buy even another player is dragging on. Just £39 million spent and clubs like Chelsea etc have spent over £200 million etc and managed to get so many players for that price. I do not know what to believe in the transfer saga story.
