The Dutch source have mentioned that the Los Blancos seem to be in pole position and are willing to pay a huge fee of 80 million euros to sign De Jong.

The 21-year-old starlet is a versatile talent, who can play in multiple positions. Naturally, he is a central midfielder but Ajax have effectively utilized him as a defensive midfielder and also as a center half when needed.

Last season, he started 16 league games for Ajax and provided 8 assists. Earlier this month, he made his senior international debut and so far, he has played 2 games for the Netherlands.

United have already spent a lot of cash to sign midfielders like Pogba, Matic and Fred in the last three summer transfer windows, therefore, they really do not need to sign De Jong, who is surely going to cost a lot.
