Man United hopeful of signing £75million-rated defender, w/o letting Anthony Martial leave

Manchester United reportedly have no desire to sell Anthony Martial to Tottenham Hotspur regardless of their ongoing pursuit of Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld.

Martial, 22, is said to be considering his United future after falling down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho but the Portuguese supposedly has no plans of offloading him to a Premier League rival.

According to The Telegraph, Spurs are said to be keen on signing Martial during this summer’s transfer window but United are widely expected to snub the approach despite their own interest in the £75million-rated defender.

Martial endured a tough end to the 2017/18 season as he failed to contribute a goal or assist between February and March but Mourinho appears to have made his mind up to keep him.

Earlier in February, the 55-year-old highlighted that he would not be selling or buying any recruits for the forward department and this may end up as the case, unless Martial attracts interest from abroad.

Juventus were constantly associated with the Frenchman during the second half of the campaign but the Bianconeri are yet to make any sort of approach for the former AS Monaco ace.

  1. Interesting that you describe Alderweireld as the “40 M pound defender” given that that was the make weight requested by Spurs in an Alderweireld – Martial swap deal.
Mourinho’s reject Martial plus 40M gets your Alderweireld. both teams benefit. Too bad that Mah U has Woodward- Lots of money, lots of smarts, but no guts. Too risk averse to be involved in player acquisition. Mourinho knows who he wants to blow out and who he wants to acquire but Woodward will waffle until most of the deals fail. Sad.

  2. Martial will be sold to Spurs or Alderweireld won’t be going to Utd. It’s that simple.
