Man United want to secure £60million-rated star this summer — Player wants out of Club

Willian Chelsea

Manchester United are reportedly among the contenders to sign Brazil international Willian during this summer’s transfer window. The 29-year-old was recruited by Jose Mourinho for Chelsea back in the summer of 2013 and he has since remained an influential figure in the attacking department.

Despite this, the versatile attacker is understood to be considering his position at Stamford Bridge, most especially if Antonio Conte remains at the helm for another season. As such, Sky Sports News claims that United could make an approach for the attacker with Mourinho having spoken effusively about the Brazilian in recent years.

Just a few months ago, Willian had indicated that he would be interested in prolonging his stay at Chelsea but his relationship with Conte appears to have since deteriorated to the extent that the Brazilian cropped out the manager’s picture with emojis in an Instagram post following the FA Cup win.

The £60million-rated star would no doubt bring more quality on the right-wing alongside a tireless workrate which Mourinho often favours. However, the move could hamper the future of Anthony Martial, who saw reduced gametime following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez.

Martial has clearly not looked the same player since being limited to a bench role and it will be interesting to see whether United would make a move for Willian, who will have turned 30 before the start of next season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are understood to hold an interest in Martial and a swap deal could be an option for both sides, though Mourinho may not fancying selling the Frenchman to a direct league rival.
