Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could end his long-standing interest in La Liga duo Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale, should the club succeed in signing Alexis Sanchez this month. The Red Devils have opened up initial negotiations with Arsenal, and they are presently deemed favourites to sign the attacker.
According to The Mail, the Red Devils are set to make Sanchez the Premier League highest-paid player at £350,000-a-week ($480,725), and this could, in turn, have an influence in the pursuit of Griezmann and Bale in the summer.
The pair have frequently been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but the arrival of Sanchez may reduce the need to spend in the summer, considering the Chilean would significantly bolster the attack with his excellent goal-per-game ratio and tireless work-rate.
Nothing official has come out from Arsenal or United regarding a potential transfer, but manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that the Chilean’s departure could be sorted out in the next 48 hours.
Sanchez has been craving to reunite Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, but United are for now favourites as they are prepared to match the Gunners’£35m asking price unlike the Citizens, who are reluctant to offer anything more than £20m.
