If reports in the media are anything to go by then Manchester United are planning to improve their central defense.

In the past few years, the Red Devils have spent a lot of cash to strengthen their back-line and they even made Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in the world last year.

However, the defense is still weak. This season, the Old Trafford club have already let in 16 goals and kept just 2 clean sheets in 9 league games.

Back in 2016, Man United splashed the cash to lure Eric Bailly from Villareal. The Ivorian international is a quality player but unfortunately, he is highly injury prone. Last season, he was mostly out with a knee concern and made just 11 appearances for the first team.

In the current campaign, so far, the African star has made 4 appearances under Solskjaer but has missed majority of the fixtures due to a muscle injury.

According to an exclusive story covered by TeamTalk, Man United plot move to sign Pau Torres from the Yellow Submarine to reinforce their central defense. It is stated that the Red Devils would like to send Bailly back to Villareal and also offer cash to sign the Spaniard.

The news source have mentioned that the 20-time English champions are not willing to pay the asking price/clause of £60million to sign the 23-year-old from the La Liga side. Therefore, a swap deal involving Bailly is under consideration.

Torres had an impressive last campaign with Villareal, who finished 5th in the table and qualified for the Europa League. This season, the 7-capped international has so far featured in 11 league games for the El Madrigal outfit, who are currently third in the La Liga.

In your view, do Man United need to improve their central defense? Should they move in to sign Pau Torres?
