Man United finally ended up sacking Erik ten Hag after a disastrous start to the 2024-25 campaign, now, they want to hire the services of Ruben Amorim from Sporting CP.

According to The Athletic, the Red Devils are ready to activate the termination clause of £8.3m (10 million euros) to lure the Portuguese from the Lions.

The news source have mentioned that Amorim is open to replacing Ten Hag at the Old Trafford club.

A few months back, the 39-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool and West Ham United. He even traveled to London to hold talks with the Hammers. However, later on, he submitted a formal apology for his actions and said:

“It was my fault, I have to accept that and live with it. I didn’t think it was so bad at the time but thinking back on it it’s very clear. I’ve explained this with the players, the staff, but most important now is to carry on. I’m using the conference here to say sorry to the Sporting fans, the staff and above all to say sorry publicly to the players for the mistake that I made.”

Amorim then helped Sporting CP win the Liga Nos title, their second under his guidance.

The current situation is also complicated. Sporting have a 100% win record in the league campaign this term having won 9 out of 9.

On the other hand, they are also flying high in the UEFA Champions League with 7 points from 3 fixtures and are currently 8th in the table.

Therefore, the real question is, would Ruben Amorim accept a move to Man United, who are 14th in the Premier League, in the middle of the season?
