Manchester United are reportedly leading the hunt to sign Juventus defender Alex Sandro during the summer.
According to Calciomercato, United are reckoned as favourites to pursue the Brazil international in three months’ time and they are prepared to offer Matteo Darmian as a makeweight in a proposed agreement.
The Bianconeri had rebuffed numerous offers from Chelsea for their left-back last summer, but Calciomercato suggests that there is a ‘good chance’ that Sandro will sign for United, if he is permitted to leave the club.
United boss Jose Mourinho has kept a close eye on the £70million-rated star since the player’s day with Porto, and it appears that the Brazilian has been identified as a potential competitor to Ashley Young for next season and beyond.
Both Darmian and Daley Blind have failed to impress with their performances, especially in an attacking sense, whilst Luke Shaw’s future looks more or less away from Old Trafford after being public criticised by Mourinho, not for the first time.
Aside from Sandro, United also have an alternative in hand in Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, who is valued in excess of £20m with Celtic. The Scotland international has less experience compared to Sandro, but Mourinho is said to be impressed by his versatility of playing across the defence.
IF you believe Sandro would come to OT as a ‘potential competitor’ for Young’s place, then think again!
When was the last time a player came to a club to be a ‘potential competitor’ and spent time on the bench or in the reserves instead?
