Manchester United will reportedly maintain their focus on signing Napoli midfielder Jorginho, should Sergej Milinkovic-Savic snub a summer move to Old Trafford. United boss Jose Mourinho is expected to recruit a tireless midfielder in the summer, and Milinkovic-Savic is reported to be the prime target after the manager watched him from the stands during Serbia’s World Cup qualifier versus Austria earlier this season.
According to The Manchester Evening News, United are keen on pursuing a summer move for the Lazio midfielder, but they are said to have back-up plan in the form of Jorginho, if the Serbian is not interested in the switch.
Jorginho has been hugely influential towards Napoli’s push for the Serie A crown this term, and his work-rate exemplifies the characteristics of a Mourinho player, who is capable of keeping up the tempo over the course of the 90 minutes.
Paul Pogba has on a number of occasions switched off from his midfield duties to link-up in the attack, and Mourinho may prefer a player more suited to the holding role alongside Nemanja Matic in order to offer more freedom to the Frenchman without bothering about the tough tackling duties.
