Manchester United could reportedly make a surprise swoop for Alexis Sanchez at the end of the 2017/18 season. The Chile international has just nine months left on his current Arsenal contract, and he is widely expected to leave the club next summer.
According to The Sun, the Red Devils will have the opportunity to sign the £140,000-a-week player in the future with his representatives having quoted a €28Million (£25m) signing-on fee. The attacker has also been linked with a potential reunion with Pep Guardiola at rivals Manchester City, but Jose Mourinho wants to hijack the deal from under City’s nose.
However, any deal could only be agreed verbally in the New Year as only foreign clubs are capable of discussing a pre-contract agreement during the January transfer window.
The attacker recently notched a sublime goal against Koln coming from the left side of the attack, and Mourinho would undoubtedly prefer a player of Sanchez’s calibre having failed to sign a new wide man in the transfer window just past.
Manchester United last won the Premier League with former Robin van Persie back in the 2012-13 season, and Sanchez could possibly be the next player to swap between the clubs with City likely to be content with their formidable front partnership of Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero.
