Manchester United have been linked with Kalidou Koulibaly for a very long time and once again, the Senegalese international is in the focus.
According to transfer specialist Jim White, Napoli will not let their star player leave this month unless the Red Devils splash a mammoth fee of £100million.
Transfer: Deal close – £20,000-a-week player has agreed terms to secure Man Utd exit
White talked to the president of the Naples based side and told talkSPORT:
“This morning, I spoke to Aurelio De Laurentiis, the Napoli owner, and said what about your player, are there bids in for him?”
“He laughed it off saying he’s not for sale. He’s absolutely not for sale unless one of the big clubs in England come up with £100million.”
Koulibaly has been one of the most consistent defenders in the Serie A and he is arguably one of the best center halves in the world. So, he can strengthen the shaky backline at Old Trafford.
The 43-capped international is the captain of the national team and he has won the Senegal Player of the Year award twice.
Spending £100million would make the African star the most expensive defender in the world but it must be remembered that he will turn 30 this year and breaking the club record for a veteran would make little sense.
In such a scenario, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should look for an alternative in the winter transfer window. What do you think?
