Manchester United have been consistently linked with Frenkie de Jong ever since they confirmed the appointment of Erik ten Hag as the new manager.
Multiple Spanish media outlets have recently covered stories on the subject and today, an update has been provided by La Vanguardia (press image provided below).
Transfer: Man Utd dream, can agree £67million fee to sign defender – Report
The news source have mentioned that keeping in view the poor financial conditions at Barca, a big offer would be welcomed for the sale of the Netherlands midfielder.
It is stated that one of the biggest evils of management at the Catalan club is the practice of paying huge fees for buying players and then offloading them for cheap.
So, La Vanguardia claim that the La Liga giants are not prepared to repeat such a mistake again and will only sell the 24-year-old midfielder if they will gain profit from the deal.
The Catalan outlet mention that the former Eredivisie star should end up moving to Old Trafford if Man United come up with a bid of over 80 million euros (£67million+).
At Ajax, under the management Erik ten Hag, the likes of Van de Beek and De Jong were brilliant in the midfield. Now, the former is suffering at Everton (on loan from United) and the latter has only won a single title (Copa Del Rey) in three years with Barca.
Van de Beek may get his chance to shine at Old Trafford under Ten Hag and it will be intriguing to see if the Dutch manager can also reunite with De Jong this summer.
