Manchester United are reportedly continuing transfer negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur as they seek to acquire the services of Toby Alderweireld this summer. The Belgium international has been frequently linked with United during the course of the transfer window but so far, an agreement has yet to be reached.
According to The Manchester Evening News, talks are ongoing between United and Spurs regarding the centre-back with Jose Mourinho’s side £10m shy of matching the player’s £55m price tag.
Since the start of the summer, Mourinho has highlighted the need for a new central defender but the Portuguese has largely been left frustrated with the slow progress in the transfer window.
Aside from Alderweireld, United have been associated with Leicester City’s Harry Maguire and Barcelona’s Yerry Mina to strengthen the heart of the defence, though the former’s £75m valuation has put them off.
Mina, on the other hand, appears the cheapest alternative to Alderweireld to reinforce the central defence but the Colombian could present a risk as he has relatively little experience in terms of European football.
Manchester United have made three signings in the form of Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant this summer. Out of those, both Grant and Fred have featured in pre-season but Dalot remains sidelined until September following a knee surgery.
Yes United you can have Alderweireld providing you sell Martial to Tottenham.
Unless we get Martial in the real then no Alderweirald.Who do Man.u think they are!!!!
Colin United think they are the most successful team in England..oh wait hey are…what have Tottenham won fuck all…martial is a future talent with more contract left than Toby does so I’d be saying no to a swap as the valuation of both players are massively apart…plus United can buy him for 25 mil next summer..
