However, after impressing at the FIFA World Cup, his market value is now sky high and Benfica want to hold on to him.
Earlier this month, O Jogo revealed Man Utd are plotting a raid to sign Ramos and the Eagles would only let him leave if the release clause of 120 million euros is met (£105million).
As per a report covered by the Portuguese source yesterday (news image provided below), the Liga Nos leaders intend to extend the striker’s contract which is due to expire in 2025.
It is stated that Benfica want to reward the 21-year-old for his consistent performance by offering him a lucrative long term deal.
O Jogo claim Erik ten Hag is an admirer of Goncalo Ramos’ qualities and want Man Utd to secure his signing.
Apart from the Old Trafford outfit, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle United and Southampton are also targeting the signing of Ramos.
This season, thus far, the Seleccao center forward has netted 17 goals and provided 7 assists in 26 appearances for Benfica in all competitions. He scored a wonderful hat-trick at the World Cup in the R16 vs Switzerland.
