Manchester United have taken a massive step towards signing Raphael Varane if reports coming from Spain are to be believed.
According to ABC, the French international is not willing to sign a contract extension with Real Madrid, who have only offered him a deal worth 7 million euros a season. He wants to move to Old Trafford.
Transfer: Man Utd offered £200,000-a-week to sign player – Decision made
The Spanish media outlet have reported that Man Utd have agreed personal terms that will make Varane earn 12 million euros per year, 60 million euros (£51million) until 2026.
Now, the Red Devils need to agree a fee with the Los Blancos to get the signing done. It is stated that the 13-time European Champions’ goal is to collect 60 million euros from the sale of the former Lens defender and at least, they are looking to get 55 million euros.
The 28-year-old is a decorated star, who has won major prizes with France and Real Madrid and such an experienced player would definitely improve the quality of the defense at Old Trafford.
If he does end up moving to Man Utd, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would likely partner him with skipper Harry Maguire in the central defense.
Last season, when Maguire got injured, we suffered badly, especially in the last few games of the campaign. Varane’s arrival would ensure that we would have not one but two leaders in our back-line.

Varane is the perfect partner for Maguire, indeed. He wins tackles , he supplies high passes like Pogba does. After we complete this deal , we must again win Declan Rice , the concrete defensive midfielder. Thanks !
