As far as the contract is concerned, David McDonnel has reported that the De Jong has agreed a contract that will make him earn £250,000 a week, around £65million in the next five years.
The Old Trafford outfit are looking to complete the deal in time to take the player on the pre-season of Asia and Australia. They are scheduled to fly on 8th July.
With the fee and contract sorted, sooner rather than later, we can expect an official announcement for the signing of De Jong.
The 25-year-old star scored 4 goals and provided 5 assists in all competitions for Barca last term but he has never been able to perform consistently well since moving to Spain.
He was an absolute superstar at Ajax under Erik ten Hag, who utilized the Netherlands international in his preferred position. Can the 52-year-old get the midfielder back to his best at Old Trafford? Only time will tell.
The 43-capped international is being lured to control things in the center of the park instead of scoring/creating lots of goals. For that, Man Utd must push to sign a creative central midfielder.
