Report – Man United have agreed under £19.5million a year deal with OT star

De Gea MUFC

Manchester United signed David De Gea back in 2011 and since then, he has been the No. 1 shot-stopper at Old Trafford.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Spanish goalie has agreed to sign a new contract to stay with the Red Devils.

Transfer: Report – Man Utd prepare to swoop for £100million star

De Gea currently earns around £19.5million a year and as per Football Insider, he has agreed to take a pay cut to extend his deal with the club.

The former Atletico Madrid star has won the Matt Busby Player of the Year award a record four times. The last time he won it was way back in 2018.

Since then, his form was mainly inconsistent. However, this season, the La Roja star has been brilliant under the guidance of Erik ten Hag.

No one has kept more clean sheets in the Premier League this term than De Gea and perhaps he deserves a new deal.

The news source that with the 32-year-old goalkeeper set to stay, Man Utd are looking to sign back-up goalie because Dean Henderson could end up leaving in the summer.

Henderson is a talented prospect but he has mainly been a bench warmer at Old Trafford.

In my view, De Gea is past his best, he will turn 33 in November and Man Utd should sign a young quality goalie in the summer?

What do you think?

  1. The wealth of experience this man brings to the team is extreme. If he agrees on a payout then extending his deal for 2 – 3 years is welcomed and signing a prospect of 19 to 20 years who’ll learn quickly. Then ship him after 2 seasons and replace him with the prospect.
