Manchester United have been interested in signing Erling Haaland since he was at RB Salzburg but back, then the youngster opted to move to Dortmund by signing a deal worth £130,000-a-week (The Daily Mail).
The Red Devils have consistently tracked the Norwegian international, who has been world class since moving to Germany in the winter transfer window last year.
Transfer: Man United ready £59.2million bid to finally sign play breaker – Face competition
Back in August, Bild reported that in the summer next year, the striker’s agent, Mino Raiola will definitely take his client away by getting the release clause activated and Man Utd are in pole position to hire his services.
The Old Trafford outfit have appointed Ralf Rangnick as the new interim manager and he has been backed to bring Haaland to the club by former Man Utd coach, Rene Mulensteen.
The 57-year-old told Stadium Astro:
“I think like a lot of fans I expected him to be at Man United already because of that relationship with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. They know each other but for whatever reason it hasn’t materialised.”
“It is important that you have got good relationships. Maybe Rangnick can bring something to the table and bring someone like Haaland to Manchester United. I think that would be a big scoop.”
Haaland has netted 71 goals in 70 appearances in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund, who were knocked out of the Champions League last week. The 21-year-old was the competition’s top scorer last season and if he wants to continue to take part in the KO stages this term, then he must leave the Bundesliga side in the winter transfer window.
Man Utd do need to improve their strike-force by signing a top star. Cavani and Ronaldo will be gone soon and someone like Erling Haaland is good enough to serve the club in the long run.
