Manchester United have been linked with Timo Werner for some time and the latest reports do not seem positive at all.
Earlier this month, German source Bild revealed that the Red Devils have made contact to sign the RB Leipzig forward, who is also wanted by the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.
Transfer: Man Utd in battle to secure signing of ‘special’ £70million playmaker
More recently, ESPN have reported that the Old Trafford outfit are still monitoring the Kaiser but he might end up signing for the European Champions.
The renowned source have stated that Solskjaer is looking to strengthen his strike-force and Werner has been in the lime light, however, Man Utd believe that the 24-year-old forward will likely agree Liverpool move if he decides to leave Leipzig.
The 29-capped international’s current contract with the Bundesliga side will expire in 2023 and as per reports (MD via Paisley Gates), he could go for 60 million euros (£54million).
The ex Stuttgart forward has been in sensational form in the current campaign. In all competitions, so far, he has made 39 appearances and directly contributed in 42 goals (30 goals and 12 assists).
United definitely need to improve their striking options in the upcoming transfer window and Werner would be a top addition. Unfortunately, reports indicate that he could be heading to the Anfield club.
It must be remembered that we have not properly replaced Romelu Lukaku as yet. To be honest, we have been unable to find someone to replace Robin van Persie, who is our last player (now retired) to score 20+ league goals in a season (2012-13).
In your opinion, who should Man Utd sign to reinforce their strike-force in the summer?
