Transfer: Man United have moved in to sign £53million player – Report

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport (news image provided below), Man Utd are bidding to sign Bastoni from Inter Milan.

The renowned news source have mentioned that the Old Trafford outfit would be in a battle with rivals and neighbors, Man City, to secure the signing of the 23-year-old central defender.

It is stated that the interest of Antonio Conte could not be underestimated as the youngster was ‘discovered’ by the Italian manager and together, they won the Scudetto in the 2020-21 campaign.

Before luring Martinez, Man Utd were linked with the Azzurri star in May (La Gazzetta Dello Sport) and the Italian side made it clear the player, who will be out of contract in 2024, will only be sold for a fee of £54million (60 million euros).

Bastoni has won every major domestic prize with the Nerazzurri. After winning the league under Conte, he won both the cup competitions under Inzaghi, who does not want to lose his prized asset.

The 15-capped international just made a single appearance for the senior national side in the Euro 2020 winning campaign. In the most recent Nations League fixture vs England, he was an unused substitute as Italy won the contest 1-0.

At Old Trafford, this term, Varane and Martinez have formed a top-class partnership in the central defense but there are issues with the depth. Lindelof is not good enough and Ten Hag has lost every game (3) that captain, Maguire, has started.

So, Man Utd could look to further strengthen their backline. In your view, should they spend £54million to finally sign Alessandro Bastoni?
